This year marks a significant milestone for the Cricket Chamber Orchestra as we celebrate our 10th anniversary—a decade of musical excellence and community engagement. It is also an extraordinary year for our esteemed conductor, Maestro Mate Szigeti. As many of you know, Mate and Anita Hiripi, our brilliant violin teacher and orchestra lead, are the visionary founders of this orchestra. Without their passion and dedication, both the Cricket Chamber Orchestra and the Hamilton City Ballet Orchestra would not exist.
We are thrilled to announce that Maestro Szigeti has been honoured with two prestigious awards: a recognition award from Mayor Andrea Horwath on December 6, 2024, and a provincial accolade from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, presented by MPP Sandy Shaw. These awards celebrate his exceptional artistry, unwavering commitment, and the profound impact his work has had on the Hamilton community and beyond. His dedication continues to inspire and touch the lives of many.
It’s incredible to reflect on the journey of Mate and Anita, who arrived in Hamilton, Ontario, from Lebanon in 2010. Since then, they have become integral to the city’s vibrant music scene and have made their mark in surrounding communities as well. As we look forward to the next decade, we are excited to see what remarkable achievements our team will accomplish. Here’s to another 10 years of success and inspiration!
